Norway.- The Norwegian intelligence agency PST and the National Security Authority NSM revealed today to the daily Aftenposten, that the database of ten important norwegian companies suffered espionage activities from foreign powers, mainly cybercriminals located in China.
The spies look after contracts, inside company info, industrial layouts and charts, username and passwords, strategic documents, list of customers, among other classified information. The companies main activities are within the oil & gas sector, energi and defense sector.
The main modus operandi of the cyber criminals are through infected emails and attachments sent to the company VIP´s. If the VIP opens the email then automatically a spy software will be installed in the computer. This spy program is in charge of sending sensitive info to the criminals.
To fight this activity, the executives must not open suspicious email & attachments, and must update programs and operative systems. Antivirus programs are not enough.
